Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, my family and I lived in an old house that had many challenges. From ceiling leaks in the kitchen, creaky floors in the living room, to poorly insulated windows and doors that never quite shut all the way...you name the problem, and we probably had it in our home. While my parents provided the best they could, I always dreamed of living in a home that didn't present such challenges.
Well, in 2008, I closed on my first home and was thrilled beyond words when I was officially presented the keys by my agent. (I must've opened the garage door at least three times in sheer awe that it actually belonged to me.) However, my rose-colored glasses quickly faded to clear when I eventually had to deal with a cracked pipe, malfunctioning washing machine, drippy faucet, clogged toilet, and a sink that started to back up into the dishwasher. Fortunately, I was resourceful enough to find technicians that helped me address the problems or was able to watch a YouTube video or two and glean enough information to handle it on my own; nevertheless, each situation still felt pretty daunting, to say the least. I don't want it to be that way for you; thus the reason I established this nonprofit. As well, I have established two websites featuring all types of common auto and home repairs: 1) www.mypinkgarage.com / 2) www.homerepairs.mypinkgarage.com. I encourage you to take advantage of these resources or at least familiarize yourself with what each has to offer as I want your journey of homeownership to be an enjoyable - and eventually profitable - one. Remember, I was you at one time - an individual who simply wanted to own a home. Despite the challenges, it has been one of the best decisions of my life. It will be yours too.
